ABOUT THE DEPUTY CHIEF COUNTY DETECTIVE

Samuel J. Gallen, Deputy Chief County Detective, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
                                 
Deputy Chief Samuel J. Gallen has been employed by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, County Detective Bureau, since January 2002.  Before his promotion to Deputy Chief, he was a Detective assigned to the Homicide Unit where he participated in over 100 homicide investigations. 
 
The Deputy Chief County Detective personally directs the operations of each unit within the bureau, and oversees those detectives assigned to the Homicide Unit.  The Deputy Chief County Detective works closely with the First Assistant District Attorney, and all local and State police agencies to investigate murder, homicide by vehicle, and other offenses in Montgomery County.   
 
Prior to his employment with the County Detective Bureau, Deputy Chief Gallen served with the Hatboro Police Department in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania for twenty -two years.  He began his law enforcement career as a Patrol Officer, and was subsequently promoted to Chief of Police. 
 
During his municipal police career, Deputy Chief Gallen served as a member of the Moreland Area Emergency Response (SWAT) Team, and was cross-sworn as a special county detective and assigned to the Montgomery County Narcotics Enforcement Team.
 
Deputy Chief Gallen is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Municipal Police Academy, Bucks County Community College, and Delaware Valley College.  He also is a graduate of the 189th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
 
Deputy Chief Gallen is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, Police Chiefs Association of Montgomery County, The State and County Detective’s Association of Pennsylvania and the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police.
 
He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Occupational Advisory Committee for the Eastern Center for Technology - Protective Services Program, Executive Board Member of the Lenape Valley Baseball Association, past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 3, Bucks County, and a member of the Father Joseph A Gallen Council - Knights of Columbus.  Deputy Chief Gallen is a USA Hockey Certified Youth Ice Hockey Coach, coaching in the Delaware Valley Hockey League.
